Tiki Joe's Ocean (aka T.J.O.) was created in 2009 by composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Andy Nazzal.

Growing up in a musical family, Andy started on piano at age five in Milwaukee and added to his musical abilities one instrument at a time, eventually succeeding as an accomplished and sought after musician, able to play over 40 instruments. Alongside his two older brothers, Andy co-created "The Joes", a successful indie rock band in Seattle, performing the same night, two blocks from Nirvana during their onset in 1991.

Andy later released two successful indie albums under the moniker "Joe's Ocean" in 2000 and 2002.

After years of studying the methods and arrangements of the vintage Exotica musicians of the late 50's/early 60's, Andy created "Tiki Joe's Ocean." T.J.O.'s debut album "The Exoticating Waves of Tiki Joe's Ocean" was written and produced entirely by Andy, performing on over 30 instruments to create this 2009 Hawaii Music Award nominated album.

The following year, with guest stars including Jimmy Virani from France on Theremin, Hawaii's Alika Lyman on guitar and Seattle's Jack Aldrich on Hawaiian Lap Steel guitar, T.J.O released "Under the Midnight Sun" which took home the Hawaii Music Award for BEST EXOTICA ALBUM, 2010.

 

The follow up was the uniquely Exotica/Soul-Jazz inspired "Soul of the Sea " released in 2012,

which The Seattle Weekly called "straight up addicting."

T.J.O has also released the wildly popular "Christmas with T.J.O." albums, vol. 1 (2010) and vol. 2 (2017).

In addition to these heralded albums, Tiki Joe's Ocean has performed on rare but exciting occasions, headlining such events as Tiki Oasis at the formerly named Hanalei Hotel, the historic Bali Hai in San Diego,

Tiki Caliente in Palm Springs and the final year of Portland's Tiki Kon.

Andy is now joined by his multi-instrumentalist/composer son, Sammy Nazzal, to create their long awaited

new release "Reflections in the Surf" in 2026.
